Grieg Seafood BC Ltd., a dynamic and growing company in the Aquaculture industry, is seeking to hire a permanent Environmental Monitoring Specialist to assists the Environmental Monitoring Manager in managing the plankton monitoring and mitigation program. The position will be based in Campbell River but will work predominantly at sea sites for eight consecutive ten-hour days on, and six days off.

Key Accountabilities

•    Train sea site staff in the sampling and identification of plankton species;
•    Provide support in monitoring and counting species;
•    Onsite or remote support for monitoring species and numeration;
•    Collect data and perform year-end analysis and reporting;
•    Liaise with outside personnel and global regions to standardize monitoring and equipment in relation to plankton;
•    Stay current with evolving technology and policies.

Education/Experience Requirements

•    BSc or related degree in Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental science or Aquaculture
•    Minimum two (2) years related work experience, preferably in an industrial setting with fisheries, aquaculture, and/or a marine setting or equivalent;
•    Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook);
•    Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and problem solving skills.
