Environmental Monitoring Manager - Grieg Seafood

Grieg Seafood BC Ltd., a dynamic and growing company in the Aquaculture industry, is seeking to hire a permanent Environmental Monitoring Manager to assists the Seawater Production division by managing the plankton monitoring and mitigation program. The position will be based in Campbell River but will work predominantly at sea sites for eight consecutive ten-hour days on, and six days off.

Key Accountabilities

•    Train sea site staff in the sampling and identification of plankton species;
•    Build training programs;
•    Develop and maintain Grieg operating procedures pertaining to monitoring and operating mitigation systems;
•    Provide support during elevated site counts, species monitoring, and numeration;
•    Supervises, trains, and develops the Environmental Monitoring Specialist, and ensures their training/education is current;
•    Conduct 70-day and annual performance reviews of their direct report;
•    Contributes positively to Grieg’s workplace culture and environment.

Education/Experience Requirements

•    BSc or related degree in Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental science or Aquaculture
•    Minimum three (3) years related work experience, preferably in an industrial setting with fisheries, aquaculture, and/or a marine setting or equivalent;
•    Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook);
•    Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, time management and problem solving skills.
